Internship

Business Administration Department Internship

Internships are essential for our Business Administration students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge and skills in professional work environments, gain practical experience, and make a strong start to their career journey.

Internships can be carried out domestically or abroad, in institutions and organizations operating in the manufacturing or service sectors.

Asst. Prof. Özge KİREZLİ
Business Department Internship Coordinator

General Requirements and Basic Information

  • Mandatory Internship Duration: The mandatory internship period is 40 working days.
  • Semester / Term Requirement: The right to undertake a mandatory internship is reserved for students who have completed their 6th semester (3rd year). Internship attempts before the 6th semester will be evaluated as "Voluntary Internships."
  • Internship Timing: Internships can be completed during the summer period or within the academic semester, provided they do not overlap with classes. Students are strongly encouraged to complete their internship in advance and take the internship course in the following semester.

Internship Location Selection Criteria

  • Corporate Environment and Family Businesses: To support career development, the host organization is expected to have a corporate structure as much as possible. Internships conducted in family businesses are not accepted.
  • In-Semester Internship Rules: Per the updated Human Resources regulation, for internships to be conducted during the academic semester, the institution must be listed under Yeditepe University Sectoral Partnerships or the student must be at the graduation stage at the end of that semester.
  • Summer Internships: The sectoral partnership requirement does not apply to internships conducted during the summer term.

Application and Onboarding Process (Social Security / SGK Procedures)

Once an internship placement is secured, the following steps must be completed entirely:

  1. Document Preparation: Forms available at the Internship Forms link must be downloaded and filled out completely. (Only the signatures of the Internship Coordinator and the Department should be left blank; all other sections, including those designated for the Internship Coordinator, must be pre-filled by the student.)
  2. e-Devlet SPAS Document: In addition to the application forms, the SPAS (Healthcare Provision Activation System) Document obtained via e-Devlet must be attached to the application file.
  3. Coordinator Approval: All prepared documents must first be presented to the Department Internship Coordinator for wet-ink signature approvals.
  4. Submission to Secretary: Documents approved by the coordinator must be submitted by the student to the Department Secretary.

Upon completing the internship, the internship report and approval forms must be delivered in person to the Internship Coordinator's office.

  • "I" (Incomplete) Grade and Deadline: If the internship submissions are not completed within the dates specified in the Academic Calendar, the student's grade will temporarily be entered as "I" (Incomplete).
  • Grade Change: Once the student completes the internship and submits all required documents, the grade is updated via a petition. However, this grade modification can only be processed until the start of the Add-Drop week of the following semester at the latest. Please carefully follow the academic calendar dates.
